Arvada
Fire
Station Services
The Fire Department that protects the city of Arvada has been
in operation since 1913. In present day, there are eight
fire-stations serving the community; two of which achieved
completion only recently. Fire Station #1 is located on 57th
street and offers the community various services, as do all
other fire-stations located throughout Arvada. The various
programs offered are designed to help prevent fire and
fire-related incidents, but also just as calls vary in nature so
now do their services. They provide a program for CPR training
and a program for teaching parents about car-seat installations
and teaching members of the community and respective businesses
fire extinguisher safety. Every member of the Arvada fire
department is certified in CPR by the ASHI.
Car-seat
installation
The firemen in Arvada take time out of dealing with
emergencies and training for the worst to teach area residents
how to install car seats for their children. They’d like me to
remind you that the law regarding children and car-seats, your
child must be above forty pounds AND four years of age; if
that’s not your child anytime soon, then you should probably
utilize their free service and become more comfortable with
car-seat installation. Arvada firemen offer many tips pertaining
to car-seats and encourage Arvada residents to call 303-424-3012
for more information.
CPR
First Aid
Arvada firemen also teach CPR and first
aid in four hour classes. Arvada firemen are certified to
administer CPR by the American Safety and Health Institute.
Particular prices for CPR-instruction can be obtained by
visiting or calling the firemen at the station. With regard to
the class, it teaches individuals the legal aspects of providing
first aid along with the how to manage or apply: physical
assessment, recovery positions, severe bleeding, shock, wounds,
bites, burns; bone, joint and muscle injuries and more; which is
up to and including managing multiple victim disasters.
The CPR class consists of teaching
students about emergency actions and steps to take when in the
presence of a recently deceased individual; one in need of CPR.
The program also teaches the difference in symptoms and effects
of heart attacks and strokes; along with all of the essentials
for effective CPR such as foreign body airway obstruction, as
well as teaching them crucial information about basic life
support. At the end of the class, protocol requires students to
take a practical and written examination. If you receive 80% on
the examinations, a card will be mailed to your address within a
few days indicating your ability to perform CPR when the
situation permits because you are aware of proper techniques and
usage.
Fire
Extinguishers
The Arvada Fire Department knows how
important taking early action is when battling massive
structure-fires. One of the most crucial elements in fire
prevention is early extinction. If you can get a fire out when
it’s small then it won’t even be a problem that needs the fire
departments exclusive fire-battling skills. Although you should
call the fire department after the termination of any undue
blaze so they can inspect the damaged area and determine whether
it’s safe for use or if the gas should be turned off. The Arvada
Fire Department is willing to teach and employees and businesses
critical information regarding proper fire extinguisher use,
including holding and spraying techniques with live
demonstrations.
The demonstrations cost $19.5 for 10
lbs of dry chemical and $15.0 for fifteen pounds of Co2. Fire
extinguisher training takes 20 minutes but lasts a lifetime.
