Arvada Adult Fire Education

The Arvada Fire Department’s Adult Education program also cover a wide range of topics and the firemen enjoy going out and speaking at different events and for different groups like churches or for Home Owner’s Associations, or whoever else need respective service. Please visit HomeSafetyInspections.com; we also offer smoke detector services, business inspection services CP and more.

Smoke Detector Inspector

When smoke rises from a blaze or impending inferno sometimes your own senses can fail you; before you know it you’ll awake sweating in your bed as a large thick black cloud of smoke is forming in your room, that’s if you wake up before it fills the whole thing. If you manage to crawl your way to safety and not sustain smoke inhalation, you are luck. Imagine, however that all of this couldn’t have been prevented and you would’ve awaken to a bright, bird-singing morning, complete with blinking smoke detector light as you walk down the hall, indicating that the battery is not dead. Out of all homes with smoke detectors, twenty-five percent of maintain a battery with life of zero. This is either a false sense of security or simple neglect, both are equally as dangerous.

Business and Home Inspection

Every year firefighters enter the business district with the intent of inspecting the businesses to ensure that the companies are maintaining a safe work environment for its employees and customers. If an individual requests to have a firefighter enter their home and determine the deadly factors pertaining to fires in there, they will do so. They recommend that instead of cleaning your home before their fireman’s visit; leave it just as you live in it for two reasons. The first is so they can tell you exactly what the potential risk for fire is in your home because if you move it a hazard that is usually there could reappear after the fireman leaves. The other reason is if the officers ever need to enter not-your-specific house to rescue somebody, it’s good to have good bearings on the different living-styles of different people.

CPR and First-Aid
The Arvada Fire Protection District is also proud to offer CPR and fist aid classes taught by their ASHI certified firefighters. The CPR classes are 4 hours long and concluded with two tests to ensure you have accurate CPR performing abilities on paper and in its practice. After the test you receive a certificate allowing you to perform CPR on those who may be in your presence and call to be revived.

The first aid class just teaches in the management of multiple-victim disasters to basic knowledge on wrapping wounds and other survival skills.

Fire Extinguisher lessons

At the training center or at your business we can teach you and your employees all of the important aspects of fire extinguisher use to help ensure the efficient immediate removal of potentially seriously dangerous hazards. The lesson includes a live demonstration for a small fee for supplies only. The lesson is designed to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the use of a fire extinguisher so in the event that they are called to action to use one, they can perform effectively.

Senior Safety

Older individuals are two times as likely to be killed in fires located in their home than young adults or medium-aged adults. There are many potential hazards that seniors should look-out for and the firefighters aren’t selling anything; they’ve always been the good guy. When they leave, seniors will be educated on major potential hazards and other "watch outs" in their homes.
