If you like nature and you’re be
in or around Arvada, Colorado; then you definitely should stop by and check out
what this small community has to offer. Arvada is a small, homely, town that is
actually a suburb of Denver, Colorado. A stream was sifting through the
mountains in early 1800s and a passing traveler using his peripheral vision, saw
something gleam in his eye. Upon closer inspection of the gleaming substance
beneath the streaming water, the settler observed that gold. He discovered gold.
The rush of settlers and workers that this nameless area received was massive
and soon afterwards the businesses followed and a small community was starting
to develop. That community is Arvada, Colorado.
Now Arvada does not have any gold in its water, Ralston Creek. It has something
that is cherished like gold, however. Arvada boasts 55 parks and 8 mini parks in
addition to over 3,000 miles of trails. It is true that the trails weave into
glorious places throughout Arvada, but it is also true that they generally lead
to the foothills of the mountains. You can go biking or hiking and if you go to
the right places you can have your breath taken away by breathtakingly gorgeous
views of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The trails even have a back-road network
where they join with trails in Denver and other surrounding communities.
The Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge is quant and charming, it specializes in preserving Colorado wetland and wildlife. It is one of the smaller national refuges in America. It was saved from development in 1990 by a group of citizens led by a history teacher named Richard Feely. It has many visitor activities such as hiking, guided tours and some educational opportunities. It is the home to more than 100 species of bird and more than a few different types of mammals, reptiles and amphibians. The national park was designated as such in 1992 and it sustains an annual increase in visitors.
The Two Ponds National Wildlife
Refuge is dwarfed, however, by the 80-acre park in Arvada. The Majestic View
Nature Center and Community Park has a lake and a small preserved portion of a
wetland ecosystem. It also boasts a visually attractive and personality
interpretive trail. The Majestic View Center also has a gift shop where visitors
can buy various nature-related gifts and token items. The totality of the
center’s exhibits is 3,000 sq. feet. That’s 279 square miles of meeting space
where people can engage in activities and host special events throughout the
duration of the year. At the park you can also find solitude and serenity or a
professional, recreational outside environment. The environmental hosting center
is located on Garrison Street in Arvada; kids are welcomed and the center
includes a hands-on nook area for them.
Besides the interpretive trail and lake the community park is a great way to
spend your leisure time. The Two Ponds National Park and the Majestic View
Nature Center and Community Park both encourage residents and visitors alike to
stop and appreciate the beauty of Colorado, especially Arvada’s Colorado.
Make sure you take a nice lengthy gander down one of our trails, they’re the
best!
